What Training Do I Need to Become a Chef
Author : Keith Londrie
Ready to stand on your feet up to 70 hours a week in 95-degree plus heat? Up to working with all types of people in a sometimes-frantic atmosphere and at an always-hectic pace?
Prepared to wait years before you reach the top of your profession? If you can answer yes to these questions, you are ready to take your first step toward becoming a gatekeeper in Hades, er, I mean, a professional chef!
Although this career can really be like the above, most successful chefs say it is definitely worth it especially if you’re passionate about food Food definitely must be the center of your life not eating it, but preparing and presenting it! (Though a taste now and then will keep the good chef on track )
Many years of training go into the making of a professional chef, one of the reasons a deep love of food and cooking is so important Some potential chefs begin by taking courses in high school or after-high-school vocational training programs
Others opt for formal education at private culinary schools or take culinary arts degree programs in college
Apprenticeship (usually three years) and internship (often a year) are almost always required for completion of these programs because most employers in the field today won’t accept less than hands-on training when it comes to hiring people who prepare the food for which their establishments are known
Curriculums vary, but all good cooking schools teach you how to prepare and present a number of meals appropriately using the correct equipment, along with menu and portion planning, budgeting, purchasing, nutrition, and waste control
You also learn proper sanitation and public health regulations regarding the handling of food which consist of a lot more than just a quick hand wash and a pinch of salt thrown over your shoulder for good luck
Hotels, restaurateurs, cruise ships, and other establishments needing professional chefs look toward the American Culinary Federation (ACF) and its accreditation when going over the resume of a possible chef to work for them The ACF puts their stamp of approval on more than 100 culinary school training programs and backs apprenticeship programs all over the USA
If you have successfully completed training that’s acceptable through the ACF’s recognized standards, you’ve got a definite leg up on your competition who’ve recently received certificates from Bobs Burger Flipping School This doesn’t mean you’re guaranteed a job, however you just have an advantage!
Chef certification or a degree in culinary arts is not an absolute requirement for becoming a professional chef It’s just regarded as the easiest way if there is such a thing Some chefs become what they are through working under already-well-established professionals
If they don’t succeed their mentors (possibly at retirement), their mentors sometimes recommend them to other quality establishments to enable them to rise in their careers This is wonderful if your mentor likes you; otherwise, when you leave that establishment, it’s back to square one chopping, peeling, and cleaning up others’ messes
So, it’s highly recommended to take the formal education route that is, if you’re sure this career is to your liking By all means, go for it! Who knows? In just a few short years, you, too, can spend hours and hours on your feet, dripping wet from the heat and exhausted from trying to get everyone doing what they’re supposed to in your kitchen but hey, you’ll be a chef!

Essential Traits of an Indispensable Entrepreneur
Author : Kyle Clouse
What exactly is meant by entrepreneur? An individual ready to take on financial risks and is ready for venturing into new financial projects for profit is an entrepreneur and a person who holds seriously the responsibility for the risks as well as outcome which are incurred in a project
Derived from French words ‘entre’ and ‘prendre’, which mean to enter and to take respectively, the word was introduced in English for the first ever time by Richard Cantillon, who was a renowned Irish economist He defined entrepreneur as a person who acts as the middle-man between labor and capital
Being an entrepreneur is one of the most difficult and challenging, yet rewarding undertakings that a person can venture into The situations are very rarely in favor of the entrepreneur so certain traits are required to be a successful entrepreneur Let’s examine some of the traits that are essential for an entrepreneur to be successful
Focused or Confused Entrepreneurs need to be thoroughly focused Focus must be on the goals and aims they want to achieve The goals set by them should focus on satisfying the customer needs and requirements I am a firm believer that if you help others to get what they want you will eventually get what you want Entrepreneurs should also focus on rendering motivation to his employees, team mates or associates which in turn can make the customers satisfied and build the business
Vision with a Plan The next essential trait that must be possessed by an entrepreneur is vision It is an entrepreneur’s vision that helps them foresee where they want their venture to be positioned in future The vision should be framed in such a way that it is realistic and achievable The entrepreneur should be able to communicate this vision to employees or associates who also in turn should be passionate about the vision
Leadership The third buzz word for being a successful entrepreneur is to be a good leader An entrepreneur cannot work alone for his goals to be successful With a focused team and vision in hand synergy is accomplished It is team work which needs proper guidance A team does not succeed unless it has a leader which works hard and who is able to identify the needs of the team and guide them towards their vision
Persistence and Passion Lack of passion is something that will never give you success Anything you do must be done whole-heartedly and sincerely combined with lots of passion Then only, you will be able to achieve success Similar is the case with persistence There is no shortcut to victory Only hard work which comes with a strong determination of being successful yields victory There will be times where you feel that you are yielding out yourself, but if you possess a very strong will power and are very passionate about what you do then victory will definitely be yours
Technical Skills Even though you are an entrepreneur or the boss of your firm, it does not imply that you need not have any idea regarding the technical aspect of the firm The entrepreneurs need not be the greatest technical assets of the company, but they should have enough technical knowledge to lead the technical team They should be able to understand what the technical team is communicating so that they can work together for achieving the vision
Flexibility Last, but not the least, entrepreneurs should be able to adapt themselves to the ever-changing dynamic world Even though they will have to stick on to certain policies and skill sets, they must make sure that the policies and strategies are molded in such a way that they can adapt to the constantly changing environment
Are all these skills in born or can they be acquired? There are varying opinions While there are people who believe that there are quite a few traits which can be acquired by experiences, there are others who think they are in-born This is where continued education is a must An entrepreneur must identify strengths, focus on them and then continually become educated in areas for improvement

Great Productivity with Stress Management Programs
Author : Scott Goodman
Companies are beginning to face decreasing productivity in their workers With the economy stumbling, people have to work longer hours just to make ends meet and pay for gas and all the bills However, this has the unfortunate side effect of increasing the amount of stress in their lives, and they end up being less productive during their working hours as a result, meaning that they work longer hours just to do the same amount of work Because this is costing businesses money, many are offering their workers free stress management programs to make them happier and increase productivity back to normal levels, so the workers can be more productive, working less hours to do the same work
Follow Your Own Program
Stress management programs are easy for anyone to pick up, even if your company isn’t offering you one However, it can take a gradual lifestyle change to be truly effective in some cases, and all of this information can be confusing To make it easier, you can attend a stress management seminar, where you’ll be taught sound techniques and how to implement them in everyday life Also, there are plenty of guides in bookstores and online, so you have a ton of options for learning stress management programs
As such, you’ll have enough options to fit any schedule or preferences If you want a comprehensive stress management program for dealing with a serious stress problem, then you may very well want to check into Yoga or other stress relief classes These will give you some of the most effective stress management activities, and you’ll be pleased with the results within days, sleeping better at night and generally finding that you have a great deal more energy during the day However, Yoga and other stress relief classes aren’t everybody’s cup of tea, and not everybody requires them Other stress management programs can be more casual and entertaining
Some of the simplest stress management programs involve simply putting on music, which helps you to focus on the task at hand For example, music will help take your mind off of the bad meeting that you had earlier that morning, and you can concentrate on the present much more easily Also, fun exercise activities such as tennis and bowling can be great stress relievers, and any physical activity will actually help your body feel more relaxed over time These are just a few of the stress management programs available, and you should do a bit of searching to find the one that best fits your preferences

Things To Remember When Involved In A Job Search
Author : Thomas Pretty
The hardest thing about being unemployed is constant reminders that you should be conducting a job search For some this can be easy but for the less motivated amongst us the endless search for a job is both monotonous and tiresome
The task is made that much harder if you don’t know what type of job you are searching for Unfortunately for the vast majority of unemployed, knowing exactly which field to conduct your job search is the first hurdle to overcome
Finding a suitable job that matches your skills requires a methodical approach that first defines exactly what skills you possess Whether you are good with people, skilled in computer programming or have a good command of the English language can all be considerations to mull over before you even start your job search
Getting a good idea of what you can offer employers is the primary step to applying for jobs It may sound simple but the simple task of writing a list of the tasks you can competently undertake will help defining which job roles are suitable for you
Qualifications are also a primary concern Depending what level of education you possess will also be a factor in what job roles you will be suitable for Generally most industries will have jobs for differing levels education; although a common misconception is that if you possess a degree you are guaranteed a job that will be well paid and hold a great deal of responsibility Often it may be the case when involved in a search to apply for jobs below your education level in order to stand a better chance of success
Just because you are only at the search stage of your quest for a job you may consider the production of a CV as unimportant This could not be more wrong as ample preparation is crucial There are CV services on the internet and these should be your first port of call before you begin to search for jobs
Your CV will often be the first thing employers will see of you so subsequently it must present you in a positive light; a poor CV will not lead to many job opportunities
Once you have completed your search for a job and got to the interview stage it is of vital importance to present yourself in a positive way If you do not have one, go out and buy a suit as this is the best way to make a good first impression Interview technique is something that varies from candidate to candidate but a few general pointers can be followed
Firstly try and appear as enthusiastic as possible when in your interview, employers are normally looking for a candidate who will search for solutions to problems and present themselves as passionate about what they do It is also worth researching the company that are interviewing you; not only will this show initiative but will also give the impression that you wholeheartedly desire the job
Most importantly however, is to be yourself, there is no point in putting on an act to secure a job as employers will see through the charade
There is no doubt that being embroiled in a job search is stressful, it is worth remembering to keep motivated and keep on course for your goal It is easy to give up and simply rely upon benefits to support your life, but this is a downward spiral as the longer you spend out of work; the harder it is to return the working world Try to stick to a methodical plan of action, being logical and forthright is fundamental to a successful job hunt

Your Spouse Cheated Should you Work on Things or just Leave From Cary and McHenry IL
Author : Mike Shery
If you recently discovered that your spouse cheated on you, you are probably devastated, hurt, furious or some combination thereof You are probably nervous, preoccupied and wondering what you should do
Should you stay? Should you go? Or, should you ask your spouse to leave? When confronted with extramarital affairs, the first thing people feel is often knee-jerk reactions such as, hurt, rage, despondency or disbelief
If you are in this nerve-wracking situation, keep the following pointers in mind:
1 The infidelity may be the unfortunate result of a lapse in judgment on your partners part, rather than an indication that anything is fundamentally wrong with your relationship So, even though you are feeling devastated, do not be too quick to decide what to do
Do not decide to stay or go on impulse unless you or other family members are in danger Once you are hurt by your spouses infidelity, it can sometimes take up to 4 years to work through it
Do not make a decision today or even next month Wait a while and take some time This is literally a life-changing decision
Explore your feelings, read a book, talk to a counselor Allow the initial panicky feelings to move from the foreground to the background of your consciousness Do not allow yourself to be swayed by friends or relatives who tell you recklessly to just throw him/her out
Be patient and reflective However, if danger for you or your kids is an issue, you must make immediate arrangements to guarantee your safety-whatever that may entail
This is often true in the case of a partner who is abusive, punitive or particularly controlling You do not need to decide to divorce, at this time, but it is your responsibility to yourself and your kids to have a practical plan for safety, if that is an issue
2 As you consider whether to divorce, get counseling or separate, you will be changing your mind a lot Do not let that discourage you
Very seldom will you experience this life-changing decision to be self-evident or obvious At one point you may decide to consider counseling At another day or time you may decide to divorce Remember, it is normal to vacillate in decisions which have a life-changing consequence
3 Identify your alternate selves You will, more than likely, find that one self will want to stay, while another will want to leave
Get to know your different selves They all should be heard Acknowledge what each part of you desires, feels and thinks They are all important
They all need their voices heard All of your alternate selves are important and none should be considered totally right or wrong They all are part of you and want the best for your life
4 Consider counseling for yourself or your relationship There are numerous resources available throughout northern Illinois and elsewhere to help you get your head straight
Clinical psychologists and family and marriage counselors study many years beyond college and have usually passed rigorous licensing examinations in the states where they practice In counseling, they share with you what they have learned in their broad experience and academic training
It is common sense: It just helps to get objective feedback from a professional who has no bias or axe to grind Clinical psychologists study counseling and psychology for 3 to 4 full years beyond college
They earn a doctoral degree in psychology, serve a 1 to 2 year internship and take their states licensing exam It is a very rigorous and highly relevant course of study
Those specifically labeled as marriage and family counselors can come from the ranks of 2 professions They can have their masters degree in counseling or social work
This usually reflects the completion of one to two years of study in their discipline beyond college They often are required to serve at least a year of supervised internship and to pass their states licensing examination
Psychiatrists are a strange breed They study general medicine for 4 years beyond college and serve a one year internship in general medicine
Board certification is important for a psychiatrist A psychiatrist practicing without board certification may have been exposed to little or no coursework in family counseling at all
A psychiatrist, however, who has been board-certified in psychiatry usually, has three years of post-internship training specifically in mental health types of treatment Their most frequent task in prescribing psychiatric medications and most do little, if any, counseling

Job Hunting When Should You Start
Author : Anna Johnson
Now, it’s logical to think that the best time to start job hunting is when you’ve decided to quit your current job and definitely after you’ve already quit, or been given your marching orders But in terms of getting the best possible job for you, the best time to start looking is in neither circumstance
Actually, the ideal time is when the company you want to hire you has just realized that it needs to employ someone
And let’s be clear, this isn’t when the company is already actively looking for someone to fill the position – when it has, for example, hired a recruitment agency or has started advertising on the job boards – it’s when the company has just realized that it needs the position filled
And just why is this the best time for you to start looking for a job? Because if you’re “there” when the company has decided it needs to hire and you have all the experience, qualifications and skills its looking for, then (except for any regulatory or political requirements to advertise the job) you’re the one its likely to hire! The only reasons why the organization wouldn’t hire you would probably be due to asking for a salary the company isn’t prepared to pay or for corporate political reasons outside your control
And if the salary isn’t right or you underestimated the corporate politics well, that kind of thing happens after going through the rigmarole of applying for a job and sitting through a series of interviews the normal way, doesn’t it? At least in this case, you’ll know where you stand much more quickly!
Now you’re probably wondering “if the ideal time to start job hunting is when the company I want to work for has decided it needs to employ someone for the job I want” then “how do I know that?” and “how do I know that I want to work for that company anyway?”
Well, I’ll be honest, this is where you will have to roll up your sleeves and do a little work Nothing hard – but some decision making, research and a little networking And the first step is to identify which companies you’d like employment with
For instance, if you were, or were interested in becoming, a project manager with a software firm, you would naturally research the software industry to determine which companies you might like to work for
Once you’ve identified the companies you could see yourself working for, you would start doing as much research as you can about each of those firms Not only will this help you clarify which companies are a better or worse fit for you, but it will also be your “springboard” for doing a little personal networking Because, ideally, you’ll meet some of the people at those companies with a view to building a relationship in which they’ll think of you first when a job opportunity arises
Now it’s just a matter of keeping abreast of developments within (and outside of) the organization(s) you’re targeting and maintaining, if not building, your relationships with the key people who work there When you learn of a development that may create a job opportunity, you can get in touch with the people you know to confirm whether or not there is likely to be a position If that’s the case, you can then position yourself as the ideal candidate
Of course, you’ll know the best approach to take given the type of development that occurs
Okay, so this approach may not be the best way to go if you need a job and you need it now (who knows when the companies you’re targeting will need to hire?) However, it really is the approach to take in order to land your dream job and only requires a little research, patience and the confidence to talk to people to do it Try it!

Writing Successful Cover Letters
Author : Andrew Morris
When searching for a job, you should think of yourself as a product and the marketer of that product at the same time Companies that offer job prospects should be thought of as buyers of a product And these are not just ordinary buyers, as they are spending thousands of dollars on buying the product which is you So, think of them as you would think in terms of a car buyer seeking to purchase a brand new car at the right price Successful car dealers are successful not necessarily because they all sell flashy cars, but because they tend to offer give the buyers the impression that they are getting the best value for their money Approach job hunting and the writing of your resumes and cover letters in this way and you will be primed for success
The cover letter is the best place to entice a company to hire you It’s like the preview of a movie, the first chapter of a book and your chance to make a good first impression No one is going to wait to get to the good part in the middle of the movie if the beginning is dull or incomprehensible And the same thing applies to a book, which is the reason why a good cover letter is important If the resume is the main event, like the middle of the book or movie, than the cover letter is your introduction or exposition The cover letter is a synopsis of the reasons why the company should hire you, a presentation of the reasons why they should even bother reading your resume Don’t forget that you’re not the only person who applied for the job A lot of other people are vying for the same post so it is important you use every single edge available to you
A great cover letter should answer the main questions of the employer and give them a reason to call you up for an interview They want to know what motivates you, why they should hire you and why you are the right one that meets with their needs
When writing an effective cover letter, your focus should be job-specific, most people have a one-size fits all cover letter which they modify as required and give to employers who have jobs on offer Well, the truth is that this won’t cut it anymore You have to explain how your particular skills and experiences match the particular job that you are applying for: this is what really concerns your potential employer
Make sure that the cover letter adequately markets who you are This is your chance to make the employer buy into whatever you are selling in the resume If your cover letter doesn’t get the message across, then don’t count on them reading the resume, because they haven’t paid for your services yet and nothing is compelling them to continue Another essential thing to do is to make sure that your cover letter is thoroughly checked to eliminate grammatical errors, because nothing puts people more off a sales pitch than an error, whether glaring or subtly hidden
Andrew Morris shows that the four secrets of finding trabajos are … http://trabajos.ca
