Why Are MP3s The Key To Personal Development?

Posted on November 29, 2008

Personal development is becoming more and more popular. If that term were used 10 years ago, not many would know the meaning. Anyways, personal development mp3s are becoming the new craze because they are so practical and easy and anyone can listen to them. If you are serious about personal development you need an Ipod. Why? Because it’s portable, and organized.

Sure, other mp3 players play mp3s but I find the Ipods easy to manage and use. Although sometimes I wish I could create play lists on the go. However, the benefits far out weight the drawbacks. What I do is setup a play list for every type of development I want to accomplish. For example, I will setup a play list for weight loss, procrastination, being present or conscious, and other personal traits I want to improve.

Anytime I have a chance to listen to these mp3s I take it. My consistent time is right before bed. I try to listen to a quieter more relaxing type, such as hypnosis. The hypnosis relaxes me and I fall asleep easily. For my night time play lists, I set up usually 2-3 mp3s. I am sure to be asleep by the end, and the Ipod turns itself off after it’s done, saving the batteries.

When purchasing my Ipod, I decided to get the video one. I think it’s worth the difference in price. I’ve downloaded Oprah’s web casts that she recorded with Eckhart Tolle on his book “A New Earth.” I usually watch them when I am in a waiting room of some sort, or as a passenger in a vehicle on a long trip.

Actually it also came in handy when I had my last baby. I put some movies on it for my husband, and while I was patiently waiting to have the baby, my husband could watch movies. Also, after the little girl came into this world, it was nice to keep us occupied while waiting to be discharged.

One time I had car trouble and was stranded for two hours by myself waiting for help to arrive. I was so happy, I happen to have my Ipod with me. I watch Oprah in the middle of nowhere in my car. It was great. Well, I thought so anyways.

Driving to and from work proved to be another good time to slow my mind and relax. If you are like me, my drive home from work used to consist of going over what I did, and trying to organize my time for the next morning. When I went to sleep at night, all I could think about was work. I wanted it to end and I wanted to help make myself a better person.

It would take me at least an hour to get to sleep at night and even then, I would end up dreaming about work, what would happen, what I would try to get done the next. And the worst thing about work was the politics. Politics appear in every work place. Other people call it drama, but when management is a part, I call it politics.

Now, it only takes me about 10 minutes to fall asleep. That’s hit the pillow, relax, and sleep. I love it. I don’t dream about work anymore and I have a much better sleep. Listening to mp3s before bed has really changed my life.
